
Sometimes you just want to show your kids how much you love them. Here’s an idea, get creative and show your love with D-I-Y kiddie bento box, filled with cute animals and cartoon character made of delicious ingredients. Onigiri Frog Kid’s Bento
Ingredients
White Rice, Salmon Soboro, Green Ebiko, Tori Karaage, Quail Egg, Crab Stick, Tamago Yaki, Red Leaf Lettuce, Nori, Grapes, Kiwifruit and Mayonnaise.
Methods
- For the frog heads, make two triangles by shaping the white rice with your hand. Have them filled with flavored salmon and coat these heads with Green Ebiko (Wasabi Ebiko).
- For the eyes, cut one quail egg into four parts and cut two grapes into four pieces. Put one piece of egg, top it off with a piece of grape, on the frog head, to make an eye.
- Using a scissor, shape nori to be the frog’s mouth and nose.
- Use red leaf lettuce, strawberries and kiwifruit as garnish.
- Add tori karaage (Japanese deep fried chicken), crab stick and tamago yaki (Japanese omelet) to compliment the Frog Head onigiri.
Bat Katsu Kid’s Bento
Ingredients
Mini Burger Patty, Chicken Katsu, White Rice, Tamago Yaki, Carrot, Broccoli, Edamame, Strawberries, Grapes, Black Sesame Seed, Mayonnaise and Yardlong Bean.
Methods
- For the bat head, coat the mini burger patty with flour before it smeared with egg. Coat it again with bread crumbs before deep-fried.
- To make the bat wings, the same method is applied but instead of using burger patty, the basic ingredient is chicken.
- Use mayonnaise to make the bat’s eyes, nose and mouth.
- Fold the tamago yaki into the shape of the bat’s ears.
- Use carrots, broccoli, edamame, grapes, yardlong bean and strawberries as garnish.
Elmo Burger Kid’s Bento
Ingredients
Burger Bun, Mini Burger Patty, Green Lettuce, Mozzarella Cheese, French Fries, Kiwifruit, Strawberries, Grapes, Quail Eggs and Teriyaki Sauce for the Mini Burger Patty.
Methods
- Toast the bun
- Heat a grill pan before you toss in the mini burger patty and let it cooked thoroughly.
- Arrange the lettuce, mozzarella cheese and the burger patty inside the burger bun.
- Cut the burger in half, and position them inside the bento box.
- To make these half burgers look like two Elmos of Sesame Street, give both of them faces, by giving each half of the burger a pair of eyes made of quail egg and grape.
- Add French fries, strawberries and kiwifruit as garnish.
