Choosing what to wear for business travel can be complicated; but with a little savvy, there’s no need to sacrifice style for comfort.
You say you hate traveling for work. Long-haul flights always take their toll on your complexion and waistline, and unlike vacations there is no Caribbean getaway to look forward to but endless meetings, business lunches and awkward nights out with the boss.
In today’s global economy, it’s likely that your next business opportunity will require travel. Packing at the last minute normally results in over-packing and/or mismanaged packing. Make a checklist so you can get the most mileage out of minimal clothing. Plan your outfits for events and activities for day and night to keep up your professional image during your business trip.
Here are some tips for professional style:
Basically don’t be basic. For a business trip, do not feel pressured to wear the “uniform” – a suit and boring shoes. You can be taken seriously and be feminine at the same time. Try a wrap blouse and slacks to personalize your look. Just about every woman looks good in a wrap blouse. You can mix and match your blouse and slacks to get different looks by adding accessories.
Invest in good luggage. If you travel for work a lot, the last thing you want is to drag around a large, bulky suitcase. It makes escalators a nightmare and faulty wheels are like the plague. Buy a small, carry-on suitcase that’s lightweight and with a fashionable design.
Comfortable high heels. We all know how hard it is to resist a cute pair of heels. Frequent travelers should invest in shoes that merge style with comfort technology. Make sure your high heels don’t pinch your toes, and pack folded ballerina shoes in your handbag to wear on the plane – just pretend that they’re bedroom slippers!
Gadget. Gadgets can save you time and keep you entertained on a long-haul flight. Use noise-blocking headphones to enjoy your favorite music while you go through your presentation or read an e-book on your tablet.
Accessorize. Another way to get more use out or your travel wardrobe is with accessories. Scarves and necklace can instantly freshen up a plain dress. Large scarves can double as outerwear when you get cold on long flights.
Put all on your packing list and you are ready for travelling. Have a wonderful trip.
