In commemoration of the 100th birthday of Basoeki Abdullah, an exhibition titled “Legacy of Java Culture” was opened on 5 September 2015 at Rumah Jawa Gallery by Soetikno Soedarjo. Along with the exhibition of several paintings from the Basoeki Abdullah Museum collection, there are also several works from the Indonesian artists who want to honor their predecessor: Agus Kamal, Agus Widodo, Choirudin, I Gusti Nengah Sura Ardana, Ida Bagus Putu Purwa, Indyra, Melodia, Mulyo Gunarso, Neneng Sia Ferrier, Rosid, Sudigdo and Suprobo. This new generation of Indonesian artists took their inspiration from the great painter and reinterpret it, be it related to Javanese culture and adapting Basoeki’s visual or the result of their own imagination.
