When raclette cheese and quality steak join forces.
Owner Melia Vanda was struck with inspiration when she found the latest culinary trend in New York and Singapore: Raclette Steak. Her own steak restaurant, Willie Brothers Steakhouse, would be perfect to kickstart the hype in Jakarta. In September 2016, Raclette Steak was officially on the menu and it quickly became a sensation among Jakarta’s foodies, so much so that the restaurant had to limit the daily orders for the steak in the beginning just to keep the supply going.
At Willie Brothers you can order your Raclette Steak with either Australian or Wagyu beef. Before being served, the raclette cheese is heated up in a special pan and the melted part is then sliced onto the steak in front of the customers, offering a feast for the eyes. Raclette cheese is normally used with pasta or cake and it has a strong, nutty taste with creamy texture, this creates a unique and flavorsome experience when combined with steak. When it cools down the cheese hardens and turns bitter, so it’s best to eat it while the warmth remains.
You can also choose froma range of regular steaks without the raclette cheese, along with lamb chops, dory and chicken steaks. If you’re not in the mood for steak, there are plenty of other dishes, from soup and salad to pasta and kids’ meals. Spicy Spaghetti Seafood Nero is quite popular with its distinctive, savory squid ink and Asian and Western specialties include Russian Beef Stroganoff, Texas Style Beef Brisket, Fried Hokkien Mie Seafood and Oxtail Fried Rice. Willie Brothers Steakhouse itself began in April 2016 with the concept of American classic dining which is clearly reflected in the interior and menu. Melia wanted to create a warm, homey restaurant for families and chose steak as the star of her restaurant to suit the theme. For the future, Melia plans to add desserts to the menu and open two more branches.
