Opening its doors in July of 2017, Black Sheep is owned and operated by Chef Michel Cuozzo who is famous as one of Italian cuisine’s top chefs in Jakarta.
From breakfast to dinner, this restaurant serves true-blue Southern Italian dishes only found at this restaurant. Kick off your appetizers with a plate of Carpaccio di Tonno (light smoke cured tuna with rocket salad and lemon vinaigrette dressing) or for those opting to have red meat then it’s the Carpaccio di Manzo that is a must-try. For veggie lovers, the selection of salads such as Insalata di Rucola, Insalata di Cesare to Insalata di Pomodori e Cipolle e Formagio will more than satisfy. There is also an extensive selection of soups that includes varieties such as Tomato, Pumpkin, Minestrone, Porcini Mushroom and a Market Street Clam Chowder, but what you really have to try is the super fresh Sea Food soup (after all, Southern Italian cuisine is famous for its sea food).
The main courses available vary widely from pizza to risotto to meat dishes. Enjoy Risotto Torre Saracena with its two types of Risotto; Saffron risotto with prawn and the infamously delicious Squid Ink risotto, or take a bite from meat menu where, among others, is Bistecca ala Fiorentina, a 600 to 1500 grams T-Bone steak tagliata style that comes with roast potatoes, mixed salad and grilled vegetables. Love pasta? Then the selection of spaghetti is another must-try, served with authentic sauces and dressings straight from the kitchen of Chef Michel. And for those who love pork, then the Salsiccia ala Griglia, a homemade Italian pork sausage with rocket salad and roasted potatoes is already a firm favourite.
