Uniqlo collaborate with JW Anderson to create a functional yet uniquely striking collection.
The Men and Women Autumn/Winter 2017 collection by Uniqlo and JW Anderson is all about reinventing the English classics. Jonathan Anderson, the talented designer and founder of the JW Anderson fashion brand, claims that the core of the collaboration is the freedom to choose your fashion. He hoped that everyone, no matter what age, can find something they like in the universally designed collection.
From double-buttoned trench coats and quilted wool jackets, to scarves and sweaters, the inspiration is noticeably drawn from the daily wear in the British Isles. The 33 pieces in the collection combine traditional English with Uniqlo’s signature materials, including the elegant extra fine merino knitwear, tweed coats and high-quality cotton shirts. JW Anderson’s creative touches are apparent in the silhouettes, graphic elements and details. Take for example the women’s turtleneck sweater which is intentionally oversized and with a bow on each sleeve, the anchor-shaped faux leather patch, the padded tote bag with bright tartan motif, and the striped school scarf with bold color combination.
In line with the LifeWear concept by Uniqlo, comfort and functionality are not sacrificed in the face of style, from pockets with zippers to store gloves, from modern styles that are easy to mix-and-match, to HEATTECH technology to protect you from the cold weather.
