Museum MACAN proudly presents Chiharu Shiota solo exhibition in Indonesia, from 26 November 2022 to 30 April 2023. Titled as The Soul Trembles, this exhibition is part of the global tour which already started from Mori Art Museum Tokyo in Japan then to Busan Museum of Art in South Korea, Taipei Fine Arts Museum in Taiwan, Long Museum Shanghai in China and Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art Brisbane in Australia prior to Museum MACAN in Indonesia as the only museum to host this exhibition in the South East Asia region.
This exhibition will take over the entire area of the museum, including a number of Chiharu Shiota’s iconic works. Curated by Mami Kataoka, Director of the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, The Soul Trembles features hundreds of works from nearly 30 years of the artist’s practice since the 1990s, combining large-scale installations, sculpture, performance videos, photography, and stage design.
During the Chiharu Shiota: The Soul Trembles exhibition, the museum will present an area specifically for visitors to reflect, play, and take part, in which will be displayed with various objects and stories behind them. Titled Mini Museum of Memories, this area responds to one of the artist’s works, Connecting Small Memories (2019), and will occupy the Children’s Art Room .
The exhibition will be open from November 26, 2022 to April 30, 2023. Tickets are on pre-sale now, available at https://ticket.museummacan.
