Not only having all seven members of well-experienced specialist doctors and each highly skilled in their subspecialties but also with the support of high technology, the eye-centric clinic can examine and treat patients accurately and efficiently. It is the first and only eye-centric within the brand’s hospital network in Indonesia.
Amelya, a medical faculty of ophthalmology graduate from the University of Diponegoro and a master specialist doctor graduate from the University of Indonesia, is one of the doctor members in ophthalmology. She explains visual cases that are commonly found, the chances of cure or recovery are relatively high, for example, cataract patients without comorbidities as well as visual cases in which eyes require a thorough and accurate examination, such as patients with glasses. Amelya shares her experience with one of the cases, “I’ve obtained numerous fellowships in the fields of contact lenses and low vision. In one of the cases, I treated a 15-year-old child with impairments in the left and right side of his eyes after going through several eye surgeries that needed glasses. Even though every patient has their own challenge that can be treated to improve their sighting ability, the child after thorough examinations can be treated with the right fitting pair of glasses and low vision aid, and now he can attend normal school. This has improved his quality of life significantly.”

Amelya adds, “Healthy lifestyle is key. Eating nutritious food, no junk food and soft drinks, exercise regularly, no smoking. Also, important to reduce the use and exposure to gadget light, especially for children. Additionally, we need to prevent reading while lying down position and in low light. It’s simply eliminating bad habits that can reduce the quality of our visual.”
She adds, “Another example as we get older, we become vulnerable to progressive glaucoma. Therefore, we need to do regular checks every once a year, to prevent vision loss and blindness caused by damage of a nerve in the back of your eye called the optic nerve. In most cases, we only can detect when already in the advanced stage. Early detection is the best prevention.”
