WOMEN’S INTERNATIONAL CLUB JAKARTA PRESENTS THE 54th ANNUAL CHARITY BAZAAR: A CELEBRATION OF GLOBAL UNITY AND GIVING

The most anticipated Women’s International Club (WIC) Jakarta was successfully held on 8-9 November 2023 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Hall B. The 54th annual charity bazaar was opened by the First Lady, Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo, and the Second Lady, Ibu Wury Ma’ruf Amin, WIC’s committees, and respected volunteers. As the main sponsor of this year’s charity bazaar, the Regional Government of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) showcased traditional woven fabrics, local cuisine, traditional crafts, and souvenirs as well as promoting tourism. Cultural programs from various countries such as fashion shows, dance, and music performances were held to entertain the visitors.

This year’s bazaar featured around 40 stalls from various foreign embassies in Indonesia, WIC curated business stalls, 29 food and beverage stalls, WIC merchandise stalls, and White Elephant stalls. Most foreign embassy stalls showcased their countries’ crafts and souvenirs, traditional clothing and accessories, food and beverages, etc.

Having great awareness and support from the embassies in Jakarta that have helped the annual bazaar to run smoothly, the bazaar delivered a successful event in promoting the cultures and traditions of their respective countries and enriching the visitors’ knowledge and appreciation of other nations. While Indonesia was the host country, this was an opportunity for the local vendors to introduce the products and cultures that embrace the pillars of sustainability, which are human, social, economic, and environmental.

In the context of this event, WIC provides women from various countries with the same opportunity to meet, build friendships, share ideas, and broaden their understanding of diverse cultures. With a strong commitment to social improvement and support for education, WIC’s main fundraising event is the Annual Charity Bazaar, where the proceeds from the bazaar are used to support their social missions. WIC’s social welfare programs provide monthly support to several senior homes and orphanages. Additionally, its scholarship programs offer annual scholarships to state university students. As evident from the large number of bazaar visitors and sales, WIC aspires to maintain its dedication to hosting the annual charity bazaar to assist the community’s underserved individuals.
