LA TOUR D’ARGENT TO STAGE GASTRONOMIC WEEK AT SOFITEL LEGEND METROPOLE HANOI

For 60 years, Sofitel has built cultural bridges and introduced the spirit of French zest and fine gastronomy to guests all around the world. Now, to celebrate its Diamond Jubilee, Sofitel prepares to welcome another legend of French art de vivre to the cultural heart and soul of Vietnam. La Tour d’Argent, the historic 400-year-old Parisian dining establishment, will fly into Hanoi for the first time in its history to stage a unique culinary takeover at Le Beaulieu, the acclaimed French restaurant at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi which dates from 1901 and was recently selected by the Michelin Guide. This exclusive collaboration reflects Sofitel’s timeless DNA: a desire to empower encounters between cultures, people, and ideas.

La Tour d’Argent (“The Silver Tower”) is a pillar of French gastronomic heritage, a national landmark that has stood on the banks of the River Seine since 1582. Helmed by Executive Chef Yannick Franques, France’s Meilleurs Ouvriers de France 2004, it has been awarded a Michelin star for its classic yet contemporary style of French cuisine, while its extraordinary wine cellar houses over 300,000 of the finest vintages. An icon of French sophistication, this restaurant is the perfect match for Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, Southeast Asia’s first and only Sofitel Legend hotel, which brings the essence of fine French hospitality to Vietnam’s capital city. The hotel’s Chef de Cuisine Charles Degrendele even trained at La Tour d’Argent, further underscoring the cultural connections between these two like-minded icons.

From 23 to 27 October 2024, La Tour d’Argent will bring its timeless standards of epicurean elegance and excellence to Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi in a five-day takeover of Le Beaulieu. In the wake of La Tour en Balade, a tour of France’s finest restaurants and addresses launched in 2022 to coincide with the restaurant’s biggest-ever renovation, Chef Yannick and Restaurant Director Stéphane Trapier will embark on a “Gastronomic Week” that presents the finest French cuisine and showcases Sofitel’s spirit of hospitality.

The “Gastronomic Week” collaboration aims to transport the art of entertaining at one of the world’s best-known restaurants to the heart of a historic hotel that radiates grace, heritage, and refinement. The expert culinary team will craft a five-course lunch menu and an eight-course dinner in Hanoi for the first time. From the cutting of duck on the fly to the flambéing of Mademoiselle crêpes, this immersive experience will transport French savoir-faire and the art of gastronomy almost 10,000km from the center of Paris to the heart of Vietnam’s vibrant capital city. One highlight will be “Caneton Frédéric Delair”, a signature dish that pays tribute to Charlie Chaplin, who spent his honeymoon at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi in 1936. The hotel also now has a suite that bears his name.
