This is slow travel at its best — a journey from the urban buzz of Singapore deep into the Malaysian jungle, reveling in onboard glamour and off-board adventure all the way. The curated excursions are rooted in cultural heritage and brought to life by local experts—marvel at UNESCO-listed George Town in Penang, dreamlike Langkawi island, and magnificent Perlis Geopark, among other gems.

Rejoining the tracks in February 2024, after a four-year hiatus, the train journeys from Singapore through Malaysia’s ever-changing landscapes and vibrant cities. The “Essence of Malaysia” offers a three-night itinerary through Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, and Penang—destinations renowned for their UNESCO-listed sites, breathtaking landscapes, and magnificent sites of local art and culture. Highlight excursions include snorkeling at Langkawi’s Pulau Payar Marine Park and a Vespa-guided tour of Penang’s George Town Old Quarter, a famed UNESCO heritage site. Onboard, a menu of contemporary Malaysian cuisine is masterfully crafted by Culinary Director Chef André Chiang. Highlights include the Laksa Bouillabaisse—an homage to the aromatic Peranakan noodle soup and the Jungle Spices Cacao Ganache capturing the essence of the region’s spices. Following a day of adventure, guests can sink into the bliss of a spa treatment at the Dior Spa Eastern & Oriental Express, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
