SPOTLIGHT INDONESIA RETURNS – FEATURING CULTURAL FUSION ON WASTRA AND INDONESIAN DIVERSE CULTURE ACROSS THE ARCHIPELAGO

For the third year, SPOTLIGHT Indonesia 2024 was a success, held by the Indonesia Fashion Chamber (IFC) in collaboration with Gemalindo Kreasi Indonesia as the event organizer. SPOTLIGHT runs from 12 to 15 December 2024 at the Assembly Hall, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), highlighting a theme of Cultural Fusion on Wastra and Indonesian Diverse Culture Across the Archipelago.

SPOTLIGHT Indonesia has once again proven its strong commitment to celebrating the diversity of Indonesian culture, literature, and crafts as inspiration and resources in creating contemporary fashion, as well as promoting Indonesian fashion products and industry to the global market. SPOTLIGHT Indonesia aims to be the spotlight to promote Indonesia as a ready-to-wear fashion destination based on the value of sustainability by optimizing the creativity and inspiration from local literature, culture, and resources as well as handmade crafts to compete in the global fashion industry.

The annual cultural fashion event is divided into various programs within the 4-days event, including fashion shows and exhibitions, competitions, workshops, talk shows, fashion installations, and other programs to bring together and facilitate collaboration between designers, craftsmen, and fashion enthusiasts. Through an inclusivity and sustainability campaign simultaneously preserving an adaptive culture, SPOTLIGHT Indonesia features a wide diversity of collection creations by more than 100 participating Indonesian designers and brands, covering formal wear, casual/street wear, men’s wear, and modest wear which all is expected to strengthen the fashion industry and ecosystem in Indonesia.

In the future SPOTLIGHT Indonesia events initiated by IFC will still include modest fashion because the advantages will accelerate the economy of Indonesia, especially with the growing trend of modest fashion worldwide. IFC will consistently support the modest fashion sector and community even only a small proportion yet impactful. Likewise, the conventional fashion sector as a whole remains a focus of IFC so that all sectors in the country’s fashion industry can develop into a whole dynamic and resilient ecosystem.

In recognition of prominent designers and brands who consistently pursue sustainable fashion, SPOTLIGHT Indonesia held a competition that provided an opportunity for several curated designers or brands to showcase their creations in fashion shows, which from the curation process named House of Inang as the “Best Sustainable Brand” from SPOTLIGHT Indonesia 2024.

The SPOTLIGHT Indonesia’s runway with its stunning stage arrangements such as lighting, choreography, and impressive decorations creates spectacular backdrops and center stage of the colorful, contemporary, and alluring collection. On the opening day SPOTLIGHT showcases exquisite collections by Sofie, Irmasari Joedawinata, JYK by Jenny Yohana Kansil, Bramanta Wijaya, Interim Clothing, Anggie Rachmat, MAZULABEL by Marini Zumarnis, NATS Wear, Billy Tjong, Opie Ovie X Miss Mysa Accessories, and OLANYE by Eko Tjandra. While in the closing ceremony, showcases diverse highlighted contemporary Indonesian fashion, such as WMG (Where’s My Grandma) by Anargya, Lisa Fitria and Siswati, FUGUKU, MYMD by DedenSiswanto, NYAWA X Bell Living Lab, Jenna and Kaia, Ichwan Thoha, AMOTSYAMSURIMUDA X Dekranasda Lebak, RAEGITAZORO, ERIGO, BRILIANTO for Sarung Mangga, Erika Ardianto & Megama for Sarung Mangga,  and L by aldrie X The Theme by Novi Susanti for Sarung Mangga.
