GRAND SAHID JAYA JAKARTA CELEBRATES 51 YEARS WITH CSR INITIATIVES THAT INSPIRE CHANGE

Turning 51 is more than just a milestone for Grand Sahid Jaya Jakarta. It’s a celebration of resilience, gratitude, and a renewed commitment to making a difference. To mark its anniversary, the iconic hotel in Jakarta hosted a heartfelt Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) event, spreading happiness to 510 children from various orphanages across the city.

The initiative reflects the hotel’s deep sense of gratitude for having navigated decades of challenges, including economic downturns and the COVID-19 pandemic. More importantly, it underscores its dedication to leaving a positive impact on the community, particularly on children who need support the most.

Grand Sahid Jaya went beyond donations with a meaningful day filled with activities. Employees joined hands to host a festive bazaar, showcasing an array of unique products and local dishes, creating a vibrant space for connection and shared joy. The event also included a warm and lively communal Iftar gathering, strengthening bonds between management and employees while celebrating the spirit of Ramadan.

But the hotel’s commitment extends far beyond community engagement. It’s also about fostering sustainable practices that benefit the environment. Collaborating with Setali Indonesia, Grand Sahid Jaya reimagined how fashion waste can contribute to sustainability. Old clothes collected from employees and guests were repurposed into stylish new designs for employee uniforms, worn every Friday, and complemented by a striking pop art wall with the theme “Kali Asa” (River of Hope).

In partnership with Kick Your Butts, the hotel also transformed cigarette waste into reusable coasters for its restaurants, an innovative step toward reducing waste and sparking creativity.

General Manager Venny Artha emphasized the significance of this 51-year journey, saying, “This anniversary is not just about celebration, it’s about reflecting on the long road we’ve traveled to provide the best service. Through these initiatives, we aim to spread happiness and create a positive impact on our community and the environment. Sustainability remains at the core of our commitment to building a brighter future.”

In line with this vision, Grand Sahid Jaya Jakarta has taken bold steps toward sustainability by replacing single-use plastics, including plastic bottles, with glass alternatives across all guest rooms, outlets, and meeting spaces. The transition has been carefully managed to ensure its effectiveness and long-term impact.
