HARRIS PURI MANSION EMPOWERS WOMEN WITH DISABILITY BY UTILIZING GARMENT WASTE COMMEMORATING KARTINI’S AND EARTH DAY

In commemoration of Kartini Day and Earth Day, on April 21st 2025 Harris Puri Mansion held an inspiring session for women with disabilities on how to transform garment waste into valuable handicraft products. This initiative is rooted in women empowerment, environmental awareness, and inclusivity.

In support of this initiative, Harris Puri Mansion, in collaboration with Edith House and Perhimpunan Jiwa Sehat Jakarta (PJS), participated and showed their full support.

The event began with an opening speech by Eva Rosdiana, General Manager of Harris Puri Mansion, who is seen as an inspiring modern-day Kartini. Eva stated, “As Indonesian Kartini, we must support one another to create sustainable collaboration.”

Participants from PJS actively engaged in the event. The session was also supported by sign language interpreters to assist participants with hearing impairments.

The final products created by the participants were then showcased in the hotel area alongside other sustainable creations from Edith House. Each product was accompanied by a QR code that tells the story and hopes of each artisan, allowing potential buyers to connect personally with the creators.

As part of the Ascott Cares Program, this event marked the official opening of the Enchanted Empower Exhibition, which will be held for a month at Harris Puri Mansion. The essence of this exhibition is to empower women while embracing inclusivity in sustainable practices. During the exhibition, hotel guests are invited to freely explore the products and show their support to beloved local artisans.
