Sally Koeswanto, a passionate and renowned fashion designer in Indonesia, is widely known for elegance, beauty, detail, and meticulous design and technique. Sally now returns, after taking her 10-year hiatus from the fashion world to celebrate her 25-year journey in the fashion world. A special couture soirée celebration was held at Minotti Jakarta Kemang on 5 May 2025.
This silver celebration includes an archive collection exhibition from various fashion shows over the last two decades, then concludes with a presentation of 25 of her latest couture collections titled: “I Take My Broken Heart & Make It into an Art”. She chose this as a theme based on personal experience and main inspiration for her latest collection.
Just like the Japanese art of Kintsugi, which reassembles broken ceramics with gold. Sally, through her collection, tells meaningful stories of mending and reassembling the pieces of her heart one by one, year after year, and now she presents them as a collection of art transformed into elegant beauty. Each design reflects a spiritual journey of love, loss, and sacrifice. Each piece speaks in silence, which conveys that the purpose of design is not just as art and beauty but also shows a connection.
The 25-couture collection is elegant, sexy, and minimalist silhouettes combined with high craftsmanship and bold imagination are Sally Koeswanto’s signature designs, which represent or incorporate the spirit of a strong yet gentle woman, full of character and charm.
The collection show is divided into four sequences:
Sequence I
Starting with a nude nuance, a heart-patterned dress on the chest-framed by 3D silicone bird wings. Followed with a veiled dress in pale yellow and silver, giving a mysterious impression like a goddess, then closed with a peach-blue dress with a sequin flower motif, decorated with Swarovski crystals.
Sequence II
Presenting a light blue color combined with sexy red accents. A fresh, dynamic, and energetic nuance.
Sequence III
The collection is dominated by white. It consists of an elegant dress combined with a modern crop blazer and a long torso corset. The bold play of crystal motifs shows detail and expertise in craftsmanship.
Sequence IV
A black dress with silver accents presents a calm and mysterious aura, an interpretation of the spiritual maturity process. Then closed with a long transparent black dress, decorated with lace and a veil, combined with a leather harness. A symbol of spiritual strength: perseverance, patience, and contemplation of a strong woman.
The collection design is made from various main materials of plain silk, tulle decorated with crystals, leather, silicone, and Chantilly lace.
