In celebration of Jakarta’s 498th anniversary, Merlynn Park Hotel Jakarta invites guests to step into the heart of the capital’s cultural soul with Festival Kampoeng Betawi, a colorful and meaningful tribute to the city’s Betawi heritage.
Held in collaboration with Dekranasda Jakarta Pusat, the festival transforms the hotel’s Times Square Lobby into a vibrant Betawi village on 23 June 2025. Visitors can experience the charm of Jakarta’s native culture through traditional performances, a modern Betawi fashion show, street-style food stalls, and a curated UMKM exhibition featuring local crafts, cuisine, and ethnic fashion.
“This isn’t just a celebration. It’s a living story,” shared Adolf Gustaf, General Manager of Merlynn Park Hotel. “We want to create a cultural experience that connects people to their roots, right in the heart of a bustling metropolis.”
Witri Yenny Arifin, Chair of Dekranasda Jakarta Pusat, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of supporting local creative entrepreneurs. The festival serves as a platform to promote the works of MSMEs in craft, culinary, and fashion sectors.
Adding to the occasion’s significance, Central Jakarta Mayor Dr. Arifin officially opened the event, praising the hotel’s initiative: “This kind of event strengthens Jakarta’s cultural identity while empowering local businesses. We hope it becomes a signature annual celebration.”
Free and open to the public, Festival Kampoeng Betawi promises a joyful day out for families, culture enthusiasts, and curious travelers alike, a reminder that heritage can be both preserved and celebrated with heart and flair in the heart of the city.
