The Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT) is turning heads in Southeast Asia with its 2025 Sales Mission in Indonesia, spotlighting the country’s bold strides in Muslim-friendly travel and immersive tourism experiences.
Held in Jakarta and Surabaya, and followed by strategic visits in Bali, the initiative brought together 10 Filipino travel companies and over 85 Indonesian tour operators, reinforcing the Philippines’ position as a rising star in halal tourism. With its recent ranking as the 8th most Muslim-friendly non-OIC destination, the Philippines is making waves with inclusive hospitality and curated cultural offerings.
Under the National Tourism Development Plan 2023–2028, PDOT is rolling out certified Muslim-Friendly Accommodation Establishments (MFAEs), including all 13 properties under Megaworld Hotels & Resorts. From prayer facilities to halal dining, the country is crafting a seamless experience for Muslim travelers.
PDOT also unveiled Uxplor, a scheduled bus program designed for Free Independent Travelers (FITs) and DIY adventurers, making inter-island travel more accessible while promoting local culture. Complementing this is the launch of One of a Kind Experience packages, featuring destinations like Metro Manila, Boracay, Cebu, Bohol, Iloilo, and Palawan, which each offers a rich blend of nature, heritage, and Filipino warmth.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco emphasized Indonesia’s role as a key partner, noting PDOT’s commitment to building a travel landscape that’s inclusive, respectful, and unforgettable.
With visionary programs and heartfelt hospitality, the Philippines isn’t just inviting Indonesian travelers, it’s inspiring them to explore a destination where every journey feels personal.
