On 1 August 2025, the Embassy of Switzerland in Indonesia hosted a vibrant celebration of Swiss National Day at Hotel Ayana MidPlaza Jakarta, honoring the enduring friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Switzerland and Indonesia. The event welcomed over 800 distinguished guests, including government officials, business leaders, diplomats, and members of the Swiss community, reflecting the strength of this bilateral relationship.
The evening featured remarks from Prof. Dr. Ir. Rachmat Pambudy, M.S., Minister for National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, who emphasized the shared aspirations between the two nations. Swiss Ambassador Olivier Zehnder highlighted Switzerland’s broad engagement in Indonesia, spanning vocational education, skills development, human rights, disaster risk management, and responsible business practices. He noted that these efforts are rooted in shared values and a commitment to building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable societies.
A cultural highlight of the evening was a joyful Swiss-Indonesian yodelling medley performed by rising Indonesian talent Jane Callista, whose mastery of traditional Swiss singing beautifully captured the spirit of cross-cultural appreciation.
Guests were treated to a selection of authentic Swiss culinary delights, including Swiss cheese raclette, the beloved Carac pastry, and other traditional dishes that showcased Switzerland’s gastronomic heritage.
The success of the event was made possible by the generous support of 27 Swiss and Indonesian companies and institutions, including Nestlé Indonesia, Novartis, ABB, Clariant, Roche, Zurich Indonesia, and SwissCham Indonesia, among others—demonstrating the depth of economic and cultural collaboration.
Celebrated annually on 1 August, Swiss National Day commemorates the founding of the Swiss Confederation in 1291. In Indonesia, it serves as a meaningful occasion to highlight the historic partnership, innovation, and mutual respect that continue to define Swiss-Indonesian relations.
