IDEANTITY TAKES CENTER STAGE AT INDONESIA DESIGN WEEK 2025

This September, Indonesia Design Week (IDW) 2025 returns with a bold new vision—one that transcends aesthetics and dives deep into the soul of design.

Held from 12 to 20 September at Indonesia Design District (IDD) PIK2, IDW 2025 is the nine-day festival that invites creatives, tastemakers, and curious minds to explore the theme of “Ideantity”, a fusion of idea and identity that celebrates Indonesia’s evolving design voice on the global stage.

Far more than a showcase, IDW 2025 is a living, breathing ecosystem of innovation. From immersive installations to thought-provoking exhibitions, the event transforms IDD into a dynamic playground where design meets culture, sustainability, and collaboration. This year’s lineup features global icons like Marva Griffin, founder of SaloneSatellite, and Laura Kohler, Chief Sustainability & DEI Officer of Kohler Co., alongside a constellation of local talents pushing boundaries in furniture, fashion, and conceptual art.

Townhall becomes the heart of experimentation, hosting cross-disciplinary collaborations like SMEG x Museum Macan, Viro x Tulola, and AHEC x Studio Hendro. Meanwhile, the IMPAX Sustainability Project turns tofu and wood waste into stunning installations, proving that design can be both beautiful and responsible.

For those craving interaction, guided insight tours and student exhibitions offer fresh perspectives from emerging designers. And in a playful twist, the Firm Office Grand Prix, an office chair race, returns to inject humor and camaraderie into the design conversation.

Market Hall introduces a new sports and wellness clubhouse designed by Bobos and Dzha, complete with a padel court, blending lifestyle and creativity in unexpected ways. Artisan Alley at Mandapa rounds out the experience with 51 curated craft and design brands, spotlighting Indonesia’s rich heritage and contemporary flair.

With support from BNI, Kohler, Bosch, and the Embassy of Italy, and media partners like Design Anthology and Dezeen, the event affirms Indonesia’s place in the global design dialogue. Whether you’re a seasoned designer or a curious observer, IDW invites you to rethink what design means and how it can shape a better, more expressive life.
