COATING THE FUTURE: ASCOATINDO BACKS PCS 2025 WITH A VISION FOR GREENER, SMARTER INDUSTRY

As the Pacific Coatings Show & Conference (PCS) 2025 gears up for its Jakarta debut this October, the spotlight turns to more than just color swatches and gloss levels. With the full support of ASCOATINDO (Indonesia’s Coating Industry Association), this year’s event signals a bold pivot toward sustainable innovation and technological transformation in the national paint and coatings sector. “PCS 2025 isn’t just a trade show—it’s a knowledge hub,” says ASCOATINDO Chairman Dr. Ir. Aditianto Ramelan. “Through seminars and short courses, we’re creating space for deeper understanding of the industry’s challenges and opportunities—especially in tech and sustainability.”

The three-day event (October 29–31 at JIExpo Kemayoran) promises more than product showcases. It’s a convergence point for global and local players, with business matchmaking, eco-conscious solutions, and future-forward dialogue. Countries like Germany, South Korea, China, and Indonesia will present cutting-edge technologies, while visitors can attend international seminars and short courses—free of charge.

Senior Coating Professional Adiwan Djohanli notes that while the industry has rebounded post-pandemic with 4–5% growth, the tech gap remains stark. “Indonesia’s coating technology still trails behind Europe. Yet with our market size and population, we have the potential to leapfrog—especially if we invest in sustainable innovation.” That innovation, however, hinges on upstream development. ASCOATINDO Secretary General Ir. Harryawan points out that the industry still relies heavily on imported raw materials, particularly pigments and specialty inputs for automotive and marine coatings. “PCS 2025 is a chance to rethink that dependency and spark local breakthroughs,” he says.

ASCOATINDO will also host two key sessions: “Indonesian Paint Market & Megatrends” — a deep dive into market shifts, regulatory frameworks, and sustainability drivers, also “Effective Corrosion Prevention Through Correct Coating Application” — a technical walkthrough of corrosion control, fabrication practices, and inspection standards. With government and industry backing, PCS 2025 is more than a showcase—it’s a springboard. For Indonesia’s coatings sector, the future is not just bright—it’s smart, sustainable, and ready to scale.
