Jakarta’s dining scene was transformed as ABSteak by Chef Akira Back hosted a two-day culinary celebration that blended artistry, innovation, and global flair. From an intimate omakase to a brunch with international acclaim, the back-to-back experience delivered unforgettable moments. On October 31, 2025, Chef Akira Back presented “Akira Evolves,” a six-course omakase dinner at ABSteak, Senayan City. This exclusive menu—never before released to the public—traced the evolution of Chef Akira’s culinary philosophy, shaped by his Korean heritage, Japanese technique, and global influences.
The dinner also offered a preview of Akira Back The Rooftop Bali, his upcoming venue atop Bali Beach Hotel. Co-developed with Chef William Rusli and Pastry Chef Sharon Augustine, the Bali concept promised a full sensory experience—cocktail hours, curated music, and sunset views—paired with Japanese cuisine elevated by local ingredients and refined technique.
The celebration continued on November 1, 2025, with “Back on Brunch,” a daytime affair featuring Guest Chef Giovanni Ledon from Akira Back Dubai. Known for winning Best Party Brunch at the 2023 What’s On Awards and the 2022 Time Out Awards, the Dubai venue also earned recognition in the Michelin Guide and BBC Good Food’s Wine Best Award. Chef Giovanni, whose career spanned Nero’s Steakhouse in Las Vegas and Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill, led Akira Back Dubai at W Hotel – The Palm. He was joined by Chef Akira and Chef William Rusli, whose own pedigree included Joël Robuchon Macau and leadership roles across Akira Back’s global outposts. Guests enjoyed more than just brunch: the event featured Kids’ Halloween activities, a Matcha Corner, and Live Acoustic performances, creating a festive experience for all ages.
As Indonesia’s first premium modern Korean steakhouse, ABSteak blends in-house dry-aging, tableside grilling, and craft cocktails from ABar Jakarta with immersive entertainment.
