MERCURE JAKARTA CIKINI AND POTADS EMPOWER CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS THROUGH INCLUSIVE TRAINING

Mercure Jakarta Cikini, in collaboration with POTADS (Parents of Children with Down Syndrome), hosted an inspiring initiative designed to raise workplace disability awareness and highlight the professional skills and creativity of individuals with special needs. This program reflects Accor’s ongoing commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion across its global network.

The hotel welcomed participants with a warm address from General Manager Yuni Manicha, followed by interactive mini-training sessions. Children engaged in three joyful, hands-on activities: cupcake decorating, basic mixology, and towel art, each guided by Mercure’s dedicated team to create a supportive and cheerful learning environment.

One participant, Nabila, stood out with her enthusiasm and confidence, drawing on her prior experience as a waitress and barista. Her quick grasp of each activity underscored the potential and resilience of children with special needs when given the right opportunities.

As a symbolic closing gesture, Mercure Jakarta Cikini presented POTADS with saplings of citrus and pucuk merah plants, representing growth, hope, and the nurturing spirit required to help children flourish—just as trees thrive with care and consistency.

General Manager Yuni Manicha emphasized that every individual deserves space to grow, and that these remarkable children inspire the entire team with their sincerity, creativity, and perseverance.

Through this initiative, Mercure Jakarta Cikini aims to open more pathways for children with special needs to explore new skills, gain confidence in professional settings, and encourage wider society to embrace genuine, sustainable inclusion.
