Introducing a hybrid experience of physical installations and online engagement, titled The Lost Jungle and designed exclusively for children and families. This UOB Museum MACAN Children’s Art Space Commission together with Tromarama, hopes to invite the young audience to imagine the present condition of jungles. This immersive digital installation will bring together art and technology, which aims to raise awareness and to educate children and families on the importance of preserving the environment and biodiversity.

Tromarama’s installation reflects on the rich and broad range of flora and fauna in Indonesia and the threat that human activities have on the ecological environment, which may lead to the extinction of animal and plant species. In The Lost Jungle, children and families will experience a live digital simulation of a jungle that is responsive to actual weather conditions in Jakarta. This digital ecosystem and the movement of the creatures in the virtual exhibition will be activated by real-time weather indicators, including the cloud formation, rain intensity, and wind speed. Visitors can also create their own imaginary creatures using the shapes, textures and colors inspired by these animals. The animals created at home will then inhabit the Tromarama: The Lost Jungle digital installation at the museum.

The Lost Jungle: Fauna Archive is available on a dedicated website, museummacan.org/cas/the-lost-jungle, to learn more about endangered or extinct animals. Tromarama: The Lost Jungle opens from 4 December 2021 and runs through until 15 May 2022. Visitors to the museum are required to observe strict protocols and precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all.
