Art Jakarta Gardens 2026, held at Hutan Kota by Plataran, has officially concluded after six consecutive days. A total of 26 art galleries participated in the open-air art fair, showcasing outdoor sculptures as part of the Sculpture Garden section, while also presenting selected works inside two exhibition tents at Hutan Kota by Plataran. Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 also featured various collaborative presentations with its Lead and Main Partners, alongside a series of multidisciplinary public programmes involving artists, musicians, and performers from across Indonesia.
The fifth edition of Art Jakarta Gardens attracted more than 11,000 visitors throughout the six-day event. Public attendance from diverse backgrounds demonstrated how the experience of enjoying art in an open-air setting continues to be a unique attraction, particularly through the intersection of visual art, music, performance, and public interaction that organically unfolded throughout the Hutan Kota by Plataran area.

With its continuously evolving format, this year’s Art Jakarta Gardens also welcomed several new galleries from Indonesia and across Asia, broadening the range of artistic presentations while creating opportunities for engagement with increasingly diverse audiences and collectors. Amid ongoing global uncertainty and rapid change, art spaces continue to serve as places where the public can share experiences, reflect, and engage in conversations about the present.

The message of adaptability and resilience in uncertain times was also reflected in special presentations by the fair’s leading partners, Bibit and BCA, both major players in Indonesia’s financial sector. Bibit presented a special collaboration with artist Mangmoel titled Tentacles of Wealth. The knitted character Mogus (Monster Gurita Sigarantang), now synonymous with Mangmoel’s artistic practice, embodies resilience and versatility inspired by the artist’s personal experiences. These values resonate with the qualities Bibit seeks to encourage among today’s investors.
In today’s fast-paced economy, convenience and confidence in making purchases have become increasingly important. BCA once again supported seamless transactions through a range of offers, including discounted entrance tickets, cashback programmes, and free installment plans. BCA Solitaire and Prioritas customers were also entitled to complimentary VIP Day access and cashback on artwork purchases. Through these initiatives, collectors were given broader opportunities to acquire artworks they aspire to own.

Several galleries and special presentations incorporated interactive elements into their works and programs. ArtSerpong Gallery activated its booth through a game-based purchasing mechanism, while Bibit featured a gacha game that encouraged public participation. Presentations by iForte Energi interacted with elements within the pool area, responding to changing water levels and sunlight conditions depending on the weather.
Meanwhile, the myBCA Space featured a dedicated photo booth where visitors could commemorate joyful moments from Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 on personalised Flazz cards. PM Toh’s traditional Acehnese storytelling performance also invited participation from both children and adults, who became part of the performance by blowing whistles. Artist Sarita Ibnoe, presented by YIRI ARTS, incorporated soil collected from various locations into her performance Bertemu di Tengah. Relics from the performance were later transformed into collectible artworks in the form of handmade bottles.
These interactive initiatives strengthened the sense of belonging and participation within Indonesia’s art ecosystem among the wider public, including audiences and collectors alike.
The excitement of Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 continued well after sunset. Presentations by Bach Multi Global, Protelindo, and iForte, featuring The Atrium of Flux by Sigit D. Pratama, illuminated the trees and structures of Taman Tugu Majapahit after dark.
At the same time, a talk series curated by mature.idn brought together fine art and medical knowledge through an approach that resonated with the creative community. Complementing the afternoon programmes was the lively music stage of Art Jakarta Gardens, which featured performances by Ali, BABON, Basajan, Batavia Collective, Jo Soegono, KLAV, Klegoth Breaks, Pelteras, Rrag, and The Cottons. The performances were presented by Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation and curated and organised by Plainsong Live.
Following its two annual events in 2026 — Art Jakarta Papers 2026 and Art Jakarta Gardens 2026 — Art Jakarta 2026 will hold its main fair at JIExpo Kemayoran from 2–4 October 2026, before opening the following year with the second edition of Art Jakarta Papers 2027 at Pondok Indah Mall 3 from 18–21 February 2027.
Through this annual series of programs, Art Jakarta reaffirms its position as an ongoing platform that strengthens Indonesia’s art ecosystem while creating space for dialogue and exchange around contemporary art practices at a regional level.
