The Jogja National Museum has opened its doors to Liminal/Periphery, the debut exhibition of the Atreyu Moniaga Project (AMP) at ArtJog 2026–ARS LONGA: GENERATIO.

AMP’s Liminal/Periphery

Founded in 2013 by artist and educator Atreyu Moniaga, AMP began in Lodan, North Jakarta—better known for factories than galleries. What started as a mentorship between Moniaga and his students evolved into a one-year incubation program where young artists sharpened their craft while learning to organize exhibitions and build networks. Over thirteen cycles, AMP has produced 57 alumni who now work across Indonesia’s art and creative industries.

For its first public appearance as a collective, AMP transforms the exhibition space into an intimate studio-like setting. Visitors are invited to step inside the creative process, tracing both the struggles and triumphs of growing together as artists. More than seven hundred works and archival materials are on display, mapping thirteen years of AMP’s journey from a small art incubation in North Jakarta to a thriving creative community.

The exhibition unfolds in two parts:

  • Retrospective Section – A thirteen-year look back at AMP’s collective journey, showcasing archives and works that document its evolution.
  • Contemporary Reflections – A presentation by 12 artists, including Atreyu Moniaga, Wilhemus Willy, Liffi Wongso, Rapha Lisa, and others, offering personal takes on ambition, doubt, friendship, and change.

Atreyu Moniaga reflected that AMP had been able to survive for so long and progress as far as it had thanks to the support of people who believed in their abilities and hard work, emphasizing that everything they had achieved was the result of collective effort. He added that he hoped the exhibition would inspire audiences to discover and nurture the hopes that grew from their own surroundings.
