Wilsen Willim takes a retrospective approach to his decade-long career span and translates it into various creative perspectives, which his haute couture collection debuts on 8 July 2026 at the Grand Ballroom, Hotel Mulia Senayan. Presenting “Algorithm: Universal Language” as the theme, and showcasing a total of 60 modern contemporary looks.

The collection features a palette dominated by blue hues—mirroring the recycled denim yarn—accented by metallic gold, silver, and bronze, alongside base tones of black, white, and gray, and an eye-catching electric blue. Then, crafted into shirts, jackets, trousers, skirts, corsets, aprons, and bibs, or styled as traditional Jarik wraps.

Revisiting recycled denim processed by Ecotouch, Wilsen incorporates Garut Songket Sutra, Dayak Iban Songket, Jembrana Bali Songket, and Halaban Minang Songket. Beyond fashion celebration, it’s a significant initiative to preserve cultural values and support the socio-economic well-being of weavers across the country.

“This innovation is not merely about preserving traditional textiles; by using domestically produced recycled yarn, we are helping to reduce textile waste while also addressing the yarn shortages and high costs,” said Wilsen Willim.

Additionally, numerical algorithms served as more than just the inspiration for developing the core concept. In this collection, the algorithms found in the weaving patterns are translated into specially designed Cirebon batik tulis (hand-drawn batik) and even into the musical score, elevating the fashion presentation and transforming into instrumental sounds, beats, and tempos that interweave harmoniously using technology in collaboration with Ican Harem. “We played the audio translations of the various weaving motifs from the four regions we highlighted,” said Wilsen, describing the creative process.

Uniquely, the elegance and exclusivity of traditional textiles are juxtaposed with a rebellious, punk-inspired edge. Leather accessories—ranging from harnesses, belts, and corsets to biker jackets—and high-cut skirts complement Wilsen Willim’s signature elevated, contemporary-traditional silhouettes. A variety of outerwear and shirts featuring necklines reminiscent of the Kebaya Kartini, Beskap, or Janggan — relevant to today’s fashion and generations. The collection is further enhanced by custom-designed accessories created in collaboration with Subeng Klasik, Peau, and Bocorocco.

Hence, the celebration continues with a “Re-See” presentation on 9 July 2026, at Rumah Heritage Menteng by Plataran, then follows with a documentary film screening titled “Reinventing Tenun: Journey to Algorithm,” set to premiere on 21 August 2026, at XXI Plaza Indonesia in collaboration with young videographer Magejibril.
