PT. Hyundai Motors Indonesia held a handover ceremony for the all-new KONA Electric units to the first three customers at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City on 25 July 2024.
The handover of the all-new KONA Electric, just one week after the official launching of the electric vehicle (EV), underscores Hyundai’s commitment to leading vehicle electrification in the country. The introduction of the all-new KONA Electric as the first EV in Indonesia with locally produced batteries demonstrates that Hyundai’s complete EV ecosystem is ready to offer more advanced mobility solutions that can drive the industry’s sustainability.
Woojune Cha, President Director of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia, said, “Hyundai is proud to demonstrate our commitment to accelerating electrification in Indonesia by establishing a complete EV supply chain, marked by the inauguration of the HLI battery cell factory, which produces the first locally-made EV batteries. This enables us to deliver the all-new KONA Electric to Bluebird partners and the first three customers within a week of its launch. Moving forward, Hyundai will continue to strengthen our EV ecosystem to ensure a worry-free EV ownership experience for the people of Indonesia.”
