As travel restrictions are still being implemented around the world due to COVID19, our chances to explore travelling destinations has also been limited. We may have thought that there was no other option than to stay at home and postpone our trips, but the digital world keeps evolving. Many museums, landmarks, national parks and other tourist attractions are now offering virtual tours for us to take a peek and enjoy a totally new experience.

To satisfy a sense of all the trips that you’ve been dreaming of, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has collaborated with local tourism agencies to hold “Virtual Indonesia”. Virtual Indonesia is new way to promote Indonesian tourism and an initiative to keep the industry alive during these difficult times. Here are some desitinations that you can visit from afar.

Learning and discovery doesn’t have to stop as the Museum Nasional Indonesia is always open to those of you who are interested in history, art and other cultural subjects. This is one of the largest museums in South East Asia and provides thousands of interesting pieces of information on Indonesian history to talk about with family and friends over a cup of coffee.

Try a virtual adventure and get a closer look at whale sharks swimming in the seas of the Gorontalo Geopark. A “visit” here is not only an experience but will also reward you with education about whale sharks, stunning views of the deep sea, and sights around Gorontalo. Take some time and explore the flora and fauna of Indonesia even though you are staying at home.

Puncak Jeruk Waterfall is a hidden tourist attraction located in Sukabumi, West Java. As it is in the middle of a forest, it’s not easy to reach the waterfall. Notable for it’s unique form; two terraced streams of water with a height of 15 meters and a width of approximately 50 meters; this may be on your wishlist once the current situation is under control.
