His professional path has taken him to most Southeast Asian countries, with over 20 years of experience working as an expatriate in the hospitality industry and managing various international hotel brands and award winning properties. Indra Budiman finally returned home to Indonesia in 2019 when the offer came to manage the Wyndham Tamansari Jivva Resort Bali. Not long after the pandemic hit Bali, he was then offered the opportunity to manage the Wyndham Casablanca Jakarta, as the hotel has long renowned for its ideal location for corporate and social events, comprised of 12 versatile meeting rooms and banquet spaces, and an alluring poolside venue, complete with state-of-the-art amenities, arrangements and best service.

Indra started his career abroad in early 2000 at The Empire Hotel & Country Club, Brunei Darussalam. Every year during his employment, Indra was promoted from Revenue to Head Butler then to Front Office Manager where he handled the Brunei royal family, royal guests, world class celebrities and notable VIPs. As he worked across South East Asia, he developed his expertise  in various positions from Senior Front Office Manager to Hotel Manager at the Park Hyatt Siem Reap , and became  General Manager of Hansar Samui  in Thailand and Chief Executive Officer of Hansar Hotels and Resorts in Thailand. In 2018 he was assigned as Technical Advisor for HMD Asia, the Hospitality Management company and operator for Shinta Mani Hotels and other managed properties including F&B projects in Thailand and Cambodia. He was responsible for setting up concepts and requirements for any new hotels in the HMD Asia pipeline, acting as representative and working with hotel owners and other stakeholders. During his assignment, he had the opportunity to work closely with Bill Bensley for the Bensley Collection.  Having succeeded with projects, Indra became Cluster General Manager of Shinta Mani Hotel Siem Reap  for Shinta Mani Angkor, Shinta Mani Shack & Shinta Mani Angkor – both part of the Bensley Collection, and Shinta Mani Foundation – Cambodia. He was responsible for all aspects of operations for the three hotels located in Siem Reap, providing leadership and strategic planning to all hotels by extending Shinta Mani Hotels service culture.

Aside from his busy daily operations, Indra loves to share his knowledge and skills with the team. A great mentor to hotel teams, even now he is still in touch with team members across multiple countries.  During his spare time, he sometimes cooks for the family and does gardening. From these hobbies, he has become involved in CSR and Green Project initiatives in his previous workplaces. Bringing together hotel staff, communities and other stakeholders to create a sustainable environment and tourism. Even then, those initiatives were adopted by schools, universities, local villages and others.

Now that he’s back home, he will continue to bring these values of developing people and creating the sustainable environment we live in, wherever his path will take him.
