This year, DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta Bintaro Jaya is celebrating its second Ramadan with “The Taste of Penang – Ramadan Edition.” in collaboration with DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang, Malaysia, to present an iftar experience inspired directly by the culinary heritage of Penang, a region known as the meeting point of Malay, Chinese, and Indian cultures.
This collaboration is presented through the hands of Special Guest Chef from Penang, Chef Siti Nadia who will be working closely with the OPEN} Restaurant team for the entire month of Ramadhan. Several Penang specialties are the main highlights of this year’s Ramadan buffet, presenting Penang mamak and nyonya flavors rarely found Jakarta.

From Penang Pasembur, Penang’s version of rujak that is especially unique with the addition of various cut up fritters, from prawn to yam, mixed with sweet-spicy peanut sauce, the fresh and aromatic Kerabu Ikan Bilis with Bunga Kantan, legendary Nasi Kandar, Penang-Style Wok-Fried Flower Crab with chili, sour and spicy nyonya Steamed Fish, and Mie Mamak that is served live at the live cooking station.
To finish, guests can enjoy sweet dishes like Pulut Tai Tai and Warm Longan with Fungus and Red Date, a light yet flavorful dessert. Beyond Penang specialties, the Ramadan buffet also features a varied menu that changes weekly, ranging from traditional ta’jil (ta’jil), appetizers, a kids’ menu, dim sum, oriental dishes, Indonesian dishes, to Mediterranean touches like Fish Shashuka and Egg Plant & Beef Moussaka. This variety provides a different experience with each visit throughout the holy month.
