Somerset Berlian Jakarta has partnered with TUKR, a leading used cooking oil (UCO) collection company in Indonesia that focuses on responsibly managing cooking oil waste into environmentally friendly biofuel.
Through this collaboration, dubbed “MENYALA” (On Fire), Somerset Berlian Jakarta is encouraging staff and guests to recycle their used cooking oil by bringing it in one-liter jerry cans, receiving Rp8,000 for every liter collected.
This program is part of Somerset Berlian Jakarta’s ongoing efforts to manage the hotel’s operational environmental footprint while educating the public about the importance of proper waste management.
By involving all hotel staff, it is hoped that a culture of environmental awareness will be created that will provide long-term benefits for future generations. “As a property that prioritizes sustainability principles, we believe that small, consistent steps can have a big impact on the environment. Through our collaboration with TUKR, we want to raise awareness among all staff and guests that used cooking oil is not just waste, but a reusable resource,” said Handrian Wijaya, General Manager of Somerset Berlian Jakarta.
Through this initiative, Somerset Berlian Jakarta continues to demonstrate its consistent support for responsible business practices and inspires more parties to contribute to creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.
