Joining millions around the world in turning off lights at 8:30PM local time, Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel went dark for one hour on 24 March 2018 to shine more spotlight on climate action in support of Earth Hour 2018. Initiated by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) 11 years ago in 2007, the movement was meant to increase global environmental awareness towards the threat of climate change.  Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel participated in the campaign by turning of exterior signage lighting, dimming or turning off non-essential interior lighting and instead using candle light to illuminate the public areas such as the lobby, restaurant and bars. Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel also offered candle light dinner at Anigré Restaurant with hand-picked quality organic ingredients crafted by its team of culinary experts and aficionados as the main theme.

Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel further expressed its support in Marriott International’s drive to raise funds for WWF by building special Earth Hour Wall from recycled plastic bottles. Earth Hour, according to Denise Naguib, Vice President of Sustainability and Supplier Diversity, reflects a philosophy they aim to practice year-round through their sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360.
