With over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry in which 14 years leadership role with numerous International hotel chains, Harry currently serves as General Manager of The Hermitage, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel Jakarta, a five star luxury hotel that occupies a 1920s building with original Art Deco architecture sits in the elite neighborhood of Menteng, Jakarta.
His success started when he joined Marriott International in 2005 where for 12 years he has stayed loyal to the brand. In total, Harry has 18 years of experience as a hotelier and leader with famous international luxury hotel chains, including Hyatt, Four Seasons and, of course, with Marriott International in Sales and Marketing, before being promoted to cluster EAM of Sales and Marketing, and now as General Manager.
Marriott International has been his second family, where Marriott’s core values: putting people first, pursuing excellence, embracing change, acting with integrity and serving the world runs in his blood, become a DNA in his work life as hotelier. Whenever there is an opportunity or project, he always takes the initiative to achieve or overcome it. As the Marriott gets bigger as a worldwide renowned hotel network in the region, he stays loyal with the brand and faces the challenges within, which opens up new opportunities for him to move forward.
Harry’s prior assignment was as General Manager for Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort & Spa, the iconic Indonesian hotel with total of 246 rooms, from 2019-2021. During his time there, the hotel which is over twenty-five years old successfully transformed into being the best resort in Yogyakarta, even while the covid-19 pandemic was hitting the hospitality industry globally.
In early 2022, he was assigned to Jakarta and served as the first Indonesian General Manager ever to manage this luxury hotel. He is truly grateful for the assignment trusted to him. Even just in his first months joining the hotel with 90 rooms and suites, he managed to reposition the hotel to become a luxury boutique hotel and introduced premium services named All Club Benefit. The All Club Benefit offers guests with Jakarta’s finest experience, personalized service for leisure and business travellers. Be it a visit to museum, all you can eat breakfast menu with nicely plated, free flow club menu food and beverage from 6 to 8 p.m., all day freshly brewed coffee and tea, creating memories during stay with personalized gimmicks, up to a guardian service (a combined butler and concierge assistant). Though in the post pandemic with an increase of room rate up to 150%, guests are satisfied with all services delivered, which resulted in a positive recovery to hotel’s performance in revenue.
Another transformation was the rebranding of L’Avenue to the 1928 Restaurant, with its highlights on Indonesian menus with heritage recipes. This introduced The Hermitage as a culinary destination. The initiatives received a positive response from the market, including Indonesian chefs well-known in the International market, such as Chef Maxie Millian, Chef Petty Elliott, Chef Mili Hendratno, and Chef Wayan Kresna Yasa who have elevated the culinary scene through degustation dining concepts.
Since childhood, he dreamt of becoming a diplomat, however faith brought him to current position. A Bachelor of Arts in Hotel and International Tourism Management with Honors graduate from International Hotel Management Institute, Luzern, Switzerland, Harry is a loving husband and father of three beautiful daughters, who’s into sports, music and love to travel.
