Premier Jatinegara Hospital is part of Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care network whos international accreditations come from JCI (Joint Commission International), HICMR (Hospital Infection Control Management Risk), national accreditation from KARS (Hospital Accreditation Committee) and ISO, as well as MUI Halal certification.  The hospital received the award for Hospital of The Year in Indonesia from the Global Health Asia-Pacific Awards in August 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand. This is in addition to consecutive years awards for Diamond Status by WSO Angels, most recently in 2022 for neurology. This internationally renowned hospital is managed and led by CEO, dr. Susan.

The first professional doctor in her family, Susan was originally interested in becoming an aesthetic specialist after graduating from the medical faculty of Universitas Padjajaran. During her non-permanent placement in Sukabumi, West Java where she received hospital operation and management experience, she pursued her master’s degree in hospital administration and public health from Universitas Indonesia. Susan joined Premier Jatinegara Hospital in January 2010 as Quality Manager where she was the youngest manager at that time and was challenged to change the mindset and habits of her senior colleagues and doctors for the future improvement of the hospital. She handled quality certifications and accreditations including JCI, KARS, ISO and Halal MUI and has always challenged herself to provide new ideas and problem solving.

All staff are now so well-trained that external audits show full compliance in maintaining the quality of service in the hospital. With her great passion, Susan never stops learning in between her busy schedule that also includes her hobbies of traveling and cooking. She is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration and is in her last semester at Institut Teknologi Bandung where she believes that learning new ideas and management strategies will be great value for her current role.

By 2020 and facing the COVID-19 pandemic, there was restructuring of the network that saw the previous CEO of Premier Jatinegara assigned to Premier Bintaro Hospital. This allowed Susan to be promoted with the double responsibilities of acting CEO and Medical Manager. It was a struggling phase for the hospital with a national lack of oxygen and medical supplies while taking care of patients and staff. In such a situation, her critical thinking, decision making, and encouragement really put everyone in the best spirit to overcome the challenges that ensured Susan was very grateful for the support of the senior doctors with whom she worked hand in hand, helping the patients.

Moving forward, the hospital is in process of developing an infrastructure that includes a trusted healthcare platform that offers health information and education for patients, and a regeneration of medical staff with fresh ideas and a spirited attitude. Digital technology integration appears in the form of an app that patients and medical staff can access for reservation, billing system, assessment, diagnosis, along with planning and conducting a patient’s course of treatment. Case meetings with patients and family members are equally important in delivering the best options for patient-centred care. These additions are what will create a comfortable of patient journey, and deliver the company vision and mission of ‘people caring for people’.
