While Indonesian brands commonly expand into neighboring Malaysia, it is now the turn of the premium Malaysian hijab brand, Bawal Exclusive, to expand into Indonesia. Bawal Exclusive officially opened its inaugural flagship boutique in Indonesia on April 18, 2026. Located in a dynamic urban hub at Jalan Tebah III No.9, Pasar Mayestik, South Jakarta, this boutique serves as their gateway to premium modest wear enthusiasts in the country.

“We view Indonesia, particularly Jakarta, as a city with advanced modest wear; therefore, we hope the opening of Bawal Exclusive into Indonesia can set a new standard for modern modest wear,” explained Puan Hj. Haliza Maysuri, Founder of the Bawal Exclusive brand, regarding the reasons behind supporting the opening of Bawal in Indonesia.

Uniquely, the inaugural store in Indonesia is not just a new branch, but a new headquarter boutique, with plans for expansion across all regions of the country, as stated by Mr. Yose Desman, Director of Bawal Exclusive Indonesia.

Despite being founded with a brand license from Malaysia, all products marketed in Indonesia—from design and tailoring to crystal application—are crafted entirely in Indonesia. This also allows Bawal to offer several exclusive designs that are only available in the Indonesian market.

Bawal Exclusive is the holder of the world’s most expensive tudung (the Malay word for
hijab) in the Malaysia’s Book of Records. To date, the record for the most expensive headscarf released by Bawal Exclusive was in the market at approximately RM100,000, or equivalent to more than Rp400,000,000.00. Behind this fantastic price, Bawal offers clear justification: each piece of headscarf is adorned with Swarovski crystals from Austria on premium Japanese cotton voilefabric. The cool, comfortable, and non-slip nature of this material makes it a favorite among hijab users.

The official opening ceremony of the Bawal Exclusive Indonesia Boutique was inaugurated by the representative of the Austrian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr. Alexander Eherer, the Commercial Attaché of the Commercial Section of the Austrian Embassy in Jakarta and Deputy Head of Advantage Austria, alongside the Director of Bawal Exclusive
Indonesia, Mr. Yose Desman, and accompanied by the founders of the Bawal Exclusive brand, Tuan H. Mohd Rosli Awang and Puan Hj. Haliza Maysuri.

Additionally, Indonesian singer Cakra Khan also performed at the event. The Bawal Exclusive Indonesia boutique offers a collection of premium headscarf variants starting
from Rp500,000.00 to limited editions exceeding Rp300,000,000.00. Beyond hijabs, the boutique also offers official Swarovski crystal sales for players in the domestic fashion industry. For more information about the brand, follow their Instagram @bawalexclusive.id
