In celebrating Earth Day, Ascott Waterplace Surabaya held a tree planting event at Forest Park Pakuwon, Surabaya. The activity is an important part of Ascott Waterplace’s sustainability commitment which also marks brand’s  “One Stay, One Tree” Tree Adoption campaign held in collaboration with Bumi Baik.

As one of the properties focused on developing an environmentally friendly economy in Surabaya and East Java, Ascott Waterplace Surabaya continues to strengthen its position in delivering sustainable business practices in the hospitality industry. This commitment aligns with the implementation of the global Ascott CARES program.

Through its five main pillars—Community, Alliance, Respect, Environment, and Supply Chain—Ascott CARES encourages its entire property network to not only focus on growing its hotel and serviced apartment business but also actively contribute to reducing carbon emissions and developing more environmentally responsible operational practices.

This initiative is also part of the global 30&Beyond campaign, marking Ascott Limited’s 30-year journey and long-term commitment. The launch of the “One Stay One Tree” campaign is a concrete manifestation of this commitment. Through this campaign, not only can guests enjoy an urban holiday-style stay with its large Waterplace Thematic Pool, located within walking distance of Pakuwon Mall, but also gain inspiration for a more environmentally friendly lifestyle through optimized cleaning services, optimized use of amenities, and receiving a tree seedling from a tree adoption program in collaboration with Bumi Baik.

Furthermore, every guest can access a report on the estimated carbon emission reductions from this campaign, as part of transparency and sustainability education.

As a token of appreciation, this campaign, which also includes a stay package, offers discounts of up to 30% for guests , providing added value for guests who want to contribute to environmental conservation without compromising on comfort during their stay.

This tree adoption program will be implemented sustainably every quarter on critical land in the Prigen–Pandaan area, with plant species adapted to the characteristics of the local ecosystem, taking into account aspects of resilience, ecological benefits, and economic benefits for the surrounding community.

Going forward, Ascott Waterplace Surabaya will also undergo an eco-friendly property certification test from the Global Sustainable Tourism Council in June 2026. Through this series of initiatives, Ascott Waterplace Surabaya hopes to inspire guests and the wider community to take part in protecting the environment. The company believes that even the smallest contribution, when made consistently, will have a real impact on the planet’s sustainability.
