Six months after severe flooding in Aceh Tamiang, IKEA Indonesia provided aid through its Matching Donations program to 364 families in Kampung Rantau Bintang, Bandar Pusaka District. This exceeded the initial target of 100 families, following coordination with village authorities who identified ongoing needs in the community during the recovery phase.
To this day, some families still face difficulties repairing their homes and resuming daily life. “IKEA has a vision to create a better everyday life for the many people. This vision also means understanding the challenges communities face in various contexts, including rebuilding their lives after disasters. Through Matching Donations, we aim to provide support that helps families in Kampung Rantau Bintang continue their recovery journey in a way that addresses their specific needs,” said Rimaditya Prameswari, Sustainability Lead at IKEA Indonesia.

Through the Matching Donations program, IKEA Indonesia and Inter IKEA are focusing on supporting the recovery phase for the community of Kampung Rantau Bintang following the conclusion of the emergency response period. This Matching Donations program is an initiative by Inter IKEA Systems B.V. (IISBV) — the owning company of the IKEA concept and global franchisor—designed to provide additional contributions to the aid previously distributed by IKEA Indonesia in December 2025, thereby extending the benefits to the disaster-affected community.
In Kampung Rantau Bintang, where 249 households suffered severe damage to their homes, five households remain in evacuation tents. These circumstances prompted IKEA Indonesia to expand the scope of its aid from the initial plan of 100 families to 364 families, reaching approximately 1,205 beneficiaries.
In July 2026, IKEA Indonesia distributed aid consisting of IKEA products like mattresses, pillows, blankets, mats, tableware, and storage boxes. Food supplies and medicines were also provided to the residents of Kampung Rantau Bintang.
Access remains a challenge during the aid distribution process, which took approximately two hours to travel from the main road in Aceh Tamiang Regency to Kampung Rantau Bintang, due to poor road conditions and the village’s location amidst palm oil plantations. Through coordination with the village government and residents, all aid successfully arrived and was distributed according to plan.
This joint effort between IKEA Indonesia, Inter IKEA, the village government, and the community of Kampung Rantau Bintang aims to ensure that donations are received by the affected families in order to continue their recovery and resume their daily activities.
