On November 1st, 2018, the five Hilton properties in Indonesia including Hilton Bandung, DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta Diponegoro, Conrad Bali, Hilton Garden Inn Bali Ngurah Rai, and Hilton Bali, confirmed their commitment to reducing single use plastics in all operations by signing the One Island One Voice Commitment. Having already launch Hilton’s Meet with Purpose program a year earlier, part of Hilton’s Travel with Purpose corporate strategy, there has been positive impact on both the environment and local communities in which the hotels operate. Hilton views responsible travel and tourism as integral to its business, which is why preserving the environment is a cornerstone of Travel with Purpose, to create shared value for Hilton Team Members, Guests, business partners and communities.

Since the launch of our Travel with Purpose corporate responsibility program in 2011, we’ve had a meaningful positive impact on our communities and our environment. Today, Hiltons in Indonesia are joining on to One Island One Voice’s Kommitmen 2.0 initiative to further reduce single use plastics in organizations across the country.

Kevin Girard, General Manager of Hilton Bandung stated the institution’s joint delight in achieving the program at the five Hilton properties in Indonesia. The total amount of plastic products managed to be cut down including 35.000 plastic pens by changing them to paper, 41.000 plastic straws and 1.000 plastic stir sticks in addition to offsetting almost 350 tons of carbon through the Clean Air Program.

Hilton Indonesia is committed to seek and apply alternative solutions to single use plastics in its operations so environment for generations to come can be preserved and all may continue to enjoy the beauty of the archipelago.
