In acknowledgement of the recent International Women’s Day and the upcoming Kartini Day, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali and its Bali International Convention Center hosted an inspiring afternoon gathering on 20 March 2019 to pay tribute to women and the role they play in society. Celebrating Women was an opportunity for ladies (as well as a few brave gentlemen) to connect over a series of talks, tea and sweet treats.
The event commenced with a brief speech from Gaye Warren, Founder of Bali Pink Ribbon, on the outreach program by the non-profit organization to help women access urgent medical care for breast cancer. A vibrant fashion parade by REE Indonesia showcased a collection affordable clothing items designed to make women look and feel fabulous, no matter the body shape and personality.
The highlight of the event was a series of informal talks expertly moderated by Co-Founder and Creative Director of WordPix Asia, Tressabel Hutasoit. She was joined on the stage by Petty S. Fatimah (Editor in Chief for Femina Magazine), Melanie Putria (TV host and celebrity marathon runner), Happy Salma (actress and owner of an artisan jewelry brand) and Riana Bismarak (former hotel executive and current fashion entrepreneur). They covered topics ranging from career advice to life experiences, wellness, family obligations and female enterpreneurship.

An artistic array of tea time treats were created especially for the event by The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali’s female pastry extraordinaire, Chef Mimin Mintarsih. There was also a fundraising stall by Bali Pink Ribbon, beauty tips & make overs from T Galleria by DFS, Heavenly Spa by Westin massage corner, and a lucky draw with lots of great prizes. To close the event, Oriol Montal, General Manager of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, spoke about his boyhood experience of growing up in a male dominated society in his native Spain. Now as a loving husband and father of two small daughters, he has a better understanding about women and is proud to work for a company like Marriott International that stands for gender equality.
