The Indonesia Fashion Chamber (IFC) has successfully held SPOTLIGHT Indonesia, a fashion festival to celebrate the diversity of Indonesian culture as inspiration for creations of Indonesia’s leading fashion creations. With the theme Celebrating Diversity (celebrating rich culture diversity), SPOTLIGHT’s debut was held at Great Hall Pos Bloc Jakarta. Beautiful and fascinating ready to wear collection of Indonesian traditional costume and textile showcased from 1 to 4 December 2022.

“SPOTLIGHT showcases the power of local inspiration in ready-to-wear products that have become the hallmark of Indonesian fashion. Wastra Nusantara with local cultural contents from the archipelago in a contemporary and up-to-date style were highlighted at the event to attract the global potential market,” said Ali Charisma, National Chairman of the Indonesian Fashion Chamber.

SPOTLIGHT Indonesia 2022 presented various agendas including fashion shows, exhibitions, ethnic textiles, workshops and seminars. In 17 fashion show sessions, more than 130 designers, brands, and educational institutions show collections that include formal wear categories, casual/street wear, men’s wear, to modest wear by bringing up literature or inspiration of Indonesian culture. The exhibition presented fashion products from 180 brands, including installation of Indonesian literature.

Just as the theme, Celebrating Diversity, the collection featured on SPOTLIGHT also showcased Indonesian ethnic groups, such as Batak, Javanese, Malay, Betawi, Minangkabau, Bugis, Bali, Papua, Nusa Tenggara and Dayak.The fashion products were made with contemporary designs which are expected to be accepted by the global scale market. By exposing the use of wastra or local materials and handwork (handmade) is a concrete effort of SPOTLIGHT to support a sustainable fashion industry.

In coincide with the SPOTLIGHT Indonesia event, the IFC also celebrated its 7th anniversary. At the closing of SPOTLIGHT Indonesia 2022, the IFC association gave appreciation to the young designer who continue to raise the Indonesian fashion and creative industry, with categories Fashion Designer of the Year to Amot Syamsuri Muda, Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year to AM by Anggiasari, and Model of the Year to Braxton.
