EU Delegation for Indonesia collaborated with the EU country members organizing the first Festival Alun-alun Eropa (Europe Avenue Festival) in Indonesia in celebration of Europe Day. The event was held at the Softball Stadium, Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Complex on Sabtu 6 May 2023 starting at 7:00 AM to 21:30 PM and was met with immense anticipation and participation from exhibitors and visitors alike.
The enthusiasm was welcomed with joy by the Ambassador of EU for Indonesia, Vincent Piket. Not only as an opportunity to introduce many of Europe’s hidden culture, the event was a meeting point for curious visitors to find out more about destinations, technology and innovative ideas which originated in Europe.
The day began at 7:00 with Zumba and Yoga activities together with Alia Miranti of TOMA Studio and 7AMNamaste, followed by a fair at Plaza Sudirman area. Several music and dance performances such as Uillean Pipes show by Wofton from Ireland and Flamenco guitar dance from Spain were also met with great response from the audience. Before dusk, a jazz performance from Kuba Skowronski entertained the ever enthusiastic crowd followed by a momentary break before the event carried on with a short film by Europe on Screen.
The night was closed with the performance from The S.I.G.I.T. The heat that day didn’t slow down the spirit of the celebration, Alun-alun Eropa drew the curtain with a promise of a more exciting event next year.
