STB rallies tourism sector to face biggest challenge since SARS in 2020

During the Year In Review by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), it was presented that record-high visitor arrivals from Indonesia to Singapore and one of the highest absolute growth was in 2019. Singapore’s tourism sector saw growth in both visitor arrivals and tourism receipts in 2019 for a fourth consecutive year, with 3.3 per cent increment on visitor arrivals and 6% increment on tourism receipts.

STB Indonesia deepened its brand campaigns to entrench the Passion Made Possible message locally with year-long media partnerships, cultivated and strengthened its travel trade relationships with a series of multi-city roadshows and experimented with leading travel tech innovators to make it easier for Indonesians to book trips to Singapore to explore the full range of interesting events and attractions in Singapore. STB also introduced new concepts and rejuvenated plans to offer to visitors, which are Magical Shores at Siloso, Dota 2 Singapore Major and Matisse & Picasso as the first of four special international art exhibitions at National Gallery Singapore, Gardens by The Bay Floral Display and Supertree Observatory, Rainforest Lumina, NERF or nothing and many others.

Singapore also boasts a strong pipeline of BTMICE events in 2020 and beyond. Notable events include gamescom Asia 2020, the Asia Pacific Life Insurance Congress and the Million Dollar Round Table Global Conference in 2021, and the World Congress of Dermatology 2023.   

In response to Indonesians concern with recent COVID-19 situation in Singapore and elsewhere, Singapore seriously take immediate actions and required measures with Tourism Recovery Action Task Force in order to keep travellers safe.
