Following last March’s Tropical Flower Workshop, Ascott Waterplace Surabaya continued its series of “Soiree Event” with Symphony of Afternoon Tea, an event where participants were served with artisan tea from Bali and serenaded with live violin and cello performance, to celebrate World Music Day.
“This is our third year hosting the Ascott Soiree, an event that is not only about arts and culture, but also an opportunity to bring audiences closer to local artists and the local communities,” said Ana Maharti, a representative from Ascott Waterplace Surabaya.

Attended by dozens of Indonesian and international guests from China, India, and Japan, the Afternoon Tea, was a collaboration between Ascott Waterplace Surabaya and Brew Me Tea, a purveyor of eco-friendly artisan teas from Bali. Guests not only had the opportunity to enjoy classic live music and tea pairings, but also were invited to delve into the stories and journeys of tea varieties native to Bali through the Tea Sensory Journey. Each guest was presented with 4 tea variants, White Peony Tea, Organic Balinese Oolong, Apple Pie Tea, and La Vie en Rose.
The event was closed with a performance of more than 12 classical musical pieces, from Salut d’Amour, Cinema Paradiso, Serenade to Spring, Always with me, Dvořák romantic pieces, op 75 no 1 to Lelo Ledung – a traditional Central Javanese lullaby performed by Lala Lili Musician. Through this event, Ascott Waterplace Surabaya hopes to continue to present experiences that bring together culture, art, music, and community in a warm and meaningful atmosphere.
