As Earth Day approaches, which focuses on accelerating the transition to renewable energy and local climate solutions, people worldwide are expected to participate in actions such as cleanups, tree planting, and sustainability education. Concerning this initiative, Innit Lombok presents a series of sustainability-led experiences set against the coastal landscape of Ekas Bay. Reflecting a continued dedication to environmental responsibility, this year’s program is an extension of the resort’s long-term approach, in which each initiative exists in quiet dialogue with the surrounding environment and community.

Beach Clean-Up & Earth Hour-Inspired Evening
On 22 April, Earth Day at Innit Lombok begins with a meaningful shoreline clean-up as part of a day of engagement with the surrounding coastline. Resort staff, alongside members of the local community, gather along the shores of Ekas Bay to help preserve the marine ecosystem. Guests are also invited to take part, offering a more direct and purposeful way to connect with both the landscape and the community.
As evening falls, the atmosphere transitions into a more intimate setting. In the spirit of Earth Hour, the resort dims its lights, with the beachfront illuminated by eco-friendly candles. The evening continues with a candle-lit dinner by the shore, accompanied by a specially curated menu by Executive Chef Matthew Angga, highlighting locally sourced ingredients and the flavors of the region.
Mangrove Planting
Set along the coastal edge of Ekas Bay, the mangrove planting program unfolds as a quiet yet purposeful restoration effort grounded in long-term impact. Beyond Earth Day, the initiative also forms part of the Road to Innit Anniversary series, with approximately 100 seedlings to be planted, which aims to strengthen the shoreline while enriching biodiversity within the surrounding ecosystem.
Sourced from local communities, each seedling carries both environmental and social significance—bridging ecological restoration with the support of local livelihoods. Guests are also invited to take part in the planting process, offering a meaningful opportunity to engage directly with the landscape and leave a lasting imprint on the bay.
Greenhouse Initiative
Supporting a more mindful approach to sourcing, the resort’s greenhouse enables the cultivation of fresh produce used within daily operations, including eggs sourced directly on-site. Complementing this, Innit Lombok adopts a zero-waste approach, where materials are thoughtfully managed and recycled wherever possible, reinforcing its broader commitment to responsible and low-impact living.
“Our approach to sustainability is rooted in the belief that meaningful impact comes from consistency and collaboration. By working closely with the local community and engaging our guests in these initiatives, we hope to contribute to preserving the beauty and balance of Ekas Bay,” said Matthew Angga, Resort Manager and Executive Chef, Innit Lombok.
As sustainability continues to shape the future of travel, the resort remains committed to preserving the ecological and cultural landscape of Ekas Bay.
