Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel greeted the coming of the Chinese New Year on 16 February with a variety of special festive offerings and invited the guests to join in a series of celebrations, welcoming the prosperous new year.
The new year is dubbed the Year of the Earth Dog. Characterized as being sociable, the Chinese believe that this is the perfect year to reconcile old feuds as well as invest in new housing and properties.
Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel hosted the Lion Dance, surprising guests in the Lobby area by its loud and lively beats which then continued to Anigre Restaurant where it was suspended by the “Yusheng” ceremony.
The “Yusheng” is Cantonese style fish salad, which homophone is then interpreted as “increase in abundance”, therefore, “Yusheng” is considered as a symbol of abundance, prosperity and vigor.
The ceremony was initiated by Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel’s General Manager, Mr. Richard Suter, who then joined by the representatives of each guest groups who dined in Anigre Restaurant.
After the ceremony finished, the Lion Dance reentered and toured between the dining guests, wishing them all good fortune and prosperity.
