FSAI 2019: Bringing Australian and Indonesian Movies

estival Sinema Australia Indonesia returns this year to bring Australian and Indonesian movies to Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Bandung and Mataram – Lombok. Screened movies include a selection of short films featured at Flickerfest – Australia’s world-renowned short film festival, “Ladies in Black” which shows the early days of Australia multicultural community and women’s liberation, and a documentary about Australia’s artist “GURRUMUL”. Family drama “Storm Boy”, sci-fi thriller “Occupation”, documentary “The Song Keepers” along with Indonesian movies the first and second “Ada Apa Dengan Cinta” and “The Seen and Unseen” will also join the line up.

During the media preview, Mira Lesmana shared her experience watching movies in Australia, the diverse culture and cinema language. Autralia’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Gary Quinlan said the diverse genre Australian movies will show different aspects of how an Australian lives. Bandung and Mataram are added to the screening cities to reach more Indonesian audience.
