August in Jakarta, just in less than two years since its opening has received the 2023 American Express One To Watch Award in collaboration with its regional experts, the awardee is chosen by the organizers of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants to recognize the restaurant’s outstanding performance. The American Express One To Watch Award is presented to a dining establishment outside of the main 50’s Best Restaurants list but is identified as the region’s rising star that demonstrates the potential to break into the main Asia ranking.
August is the first restaurant in Jakarta to receive acknowledgement from Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. Helmed by chef-owner Hans Christian and managing partner Budi Cahyadi, the August experience is contemporary and elegant in an inviting cozy space with an intimate 50 seating capacity, an open kitchen, bookshelves lined of the team’s personal collection and strategically sits in Jakarta’s Sudirman Central Business District.
August’s Chef’s Journey Tasting Menu comprises of 14 courses including 7 snacks. This menu invites patrons to immerse themselves in the stories behind the dishes. Chef Hans tries to source the best produce, championing fresh, local and sustainable ingredients at all times. All those stories behind inspire Chef Hans to create not just delicious dishes but also interesting stories on his plates.
