Macau’s culinary landscape has grown even brighter with the arrival of two new MICHELIN-starred restaurants, underscoring its reputation as one of Asia’s most dynamic dining destinations. The latest recognition celebrates chefs and teams who continue to push boundaries while honoring tradition, adding fresh sparkle to Macau’s already glittering gastronomic stage. In the 18th edition of the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong & Macau awards ceremony held on 19 March at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (“Grand Lisboa Palace”), the guide welcomed two new MICHELIN Starred restaurants, both at Grand Lisboa Palace under SJM Resorts, S.A. (SJM). These include Don Alfonso 1890 and Palace Garden, each earning their first star—the only new addition to Macau’s starred roster this year. Together with its parent company STDM, SJM’s portfolio now totals ten MICHELIN Stars across six establishments, the largest collection in Hong Kong and Macau.

The MICHELIN Guide highlighted how these restaurants embody both artistry and precision, blending local influences with global techniques. Inspectors noted that each venue offered not just exceptional food but also a sense of place—immersive atmospheres where every detail, from plating to service, contributes to an unforgettable experience.

As a proud event supporter, SJM also hosted the MICHELIN Guide-curated “Sensory Harmony Star Dinner”—a sold-out, multi-sensory experience staged at Grand Lisboa Palace. The evening brought together five world-renowned chefs whose combined accolades totaled fourteen MICHELIN Stars: Julien Tongourian of Robuchon au Dôme, Joseph Tse of The Eight, Mathew Leong of RE-NAA by Sven Erik Renaa, Jungsik Yim of Jungsik New York, and Michelangelo Mammoliti of La Rei Natura. Guests were treated to an immersive journey where exceptional wine pairings—each rated 90+ by Robert Parker—danced alongside visual storytelling and culinary artistry. The result was a dinner that transcended taste, offering a harmonious blend of flavor, texture, and emotion.

Beyond accolades or achievements—these awards are invitations. Invitations to taste, celebrate, and savor the artistry of fire, flavor, and finesse. In a city where cultures meet and blend, the MICHELIN Guide has once again spotlighted dining rooms that embody both tradition and transformation. For those seeking degustation experiences that linger long after the last bite, Macau’s culinary stage is the place to be immersed in.
